Reducing

Years ago, in an effort to reduce the amount of material going into our packaging, we discontinued adding an additional sealable lid to our 6 oz cups. It was one simple change WholeSoy could make to reduce before a yogurt cup even makes it into the hands of our customers. We also continue to research more sustainable materials so we can consider ways to reduce some more in the future.

Imagine your favorite natural health food store magnified to the size of a football field and stocked with all natural and organic products! In short, that describes the experience of Natural Products Expo East. It's a variety of natural and organic vendors sharing their products – both with the food industry and with health and natural food fanatics like us!

Each year, WholeSoy exhibits at the Expo to share our products and story with the natural food community. It's always exciting for a few of us to venture away from our base in San Francisco to explore the growing interest in organic, vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO foods! This year, we made great new connections with WholeSoy fans, new potential retailers, and vegan chefs & celebrities...

Meet WholeSoy Fan: Helen

One of our biggest supporters!

While on a recent vacation in Southern California, my family and I had an opportunity to meet WholeSoy's #1 fan. Over four years ago I answered the first phone call from Helen. She was calling to share her joy and excitement over discovering WholeSoy & Co. yogurts for the first time. And the rest is history. She has been calling to chat regularly ever since!

It was lovely to finally put a face with the voice we have all heard for years now. Helen is 89 years young! Her poor little body was wrecked from injuries years ago and related arthritis, but she doesn't let that stop her. She lives in a second floor apartment and nearly runs up the stairs! Her energy and lust for life is truly inspiring.

Growing Soybeans

Experimenting in a backyard garden

This spring, my husband and I decided to plant soybeans in our vegetable garden. We'd never tried growing them before, but it seemed only natural (and a little overdue) after almost nine years at WholeSoy!

We put in four plants and had visions of giving away our bounty like we do with the zucchini and blueberries that we can't possibly eat all by ourselves. We watered, we watched for pests, and we propped them back up after the squirrels tried to topple them (repeatedly). We were thrilled when the first little white flowers appeared. A few weeks later small green pods formed and finally the plants filled out like little miniature trees with edamame ornaments.
