We've made a few updates to our packaging that we're excited to share with you!

New Cups Headed Your Way!
In the next couple of weeks you will begin to see a new generation of WholeSoy cups on the shelves of your local market. We haven't changed the ingredients or the recipe - just the cups! Below is a list of the updates we made (many in response to consumer requests!):

Non-GMO Verified Logo

nongmo-certifiedThe Non-GMO Verified logo is now prominently displayed on the front of the cup (it was previously only located on the lid)! WholeSoy has been involved in the Non-GMO Project since its inception and we are proud to have been the first soy yogurt to finish the verification process well over a year ago!

Lactose Free

Our yogurts have always been lactose-free (they are also dairy-free, whey-free and vegan), but some customers look for this key phrase when deciding whether to try a product. Now those with lactose intolerance have easy confirmation right on the cup that our yogurts are indeed lactose-free!

Live Active Vegan Cultures

The probiotic cultures we use have always been vegan, but just to alleviate any confusion, we decided to add this word to in our ingredient statement to make it sparkling clear that our cultures are grown on a dairy-free medium. We use the following live active cultures - L. Acidophilus, B. Bifidum, L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus and L. Plantarum LM - that were specially designed for WholeSoy.

Made from Single Source U.S. Grown Organic Soybeans

Consumers want to know where their soybeans come from and we are proud of the fact that we have always worked with the same independent soybean farmer in Texas. All the soybeans we purchase from this single source are USDA certified organic and also verified non-GMO.

Saturated Fat

We regularly test the nutritional content of our products to ensure accuracy of the nutritional statements you see on the cups. The saturated fat content of our yogurts has previously been in a range of less than 0.5 grams which, according to labeling requirements, means the label must read "0 grams." In recent testing, the saturated fat—which is naturally present in very small amounts in soybeans—came in at 0.5 grams. This required that the label be updated. Crops naturally change from one harvest to the next based on lots of variables such as weather, soil and seed quality, etc. This is part of the reason that we test the nutritionals on a regular basis.

Natural Fruit and Vegetable Juice (for Color)

We use natural colors derived from fruits and vegetables to give our yogurts a consistent hue from one batch to another. These all-natural colors allow us to avoid using chemically derived synthetic coloring agents. We've changed the wording in the ingredient statement on the following flavors to read "Fruit and Vegetable Juice (for Color)," but the actual ingredients haven't changed: Blueberry, Cherry, Mixed Berry, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Strawberry Banana.

The following fruit and vegetable colors may be present in the flavors above:
- Annatto is extracted from the pulp surrounding the seeds of the Achiote tree.
- Purple Carrot, Purple Sweet Potato, and Red Cabbage are all common vegetables that contain a high concentration of anthocyanin, a pigment that naturally occurs in plants.

As always, if you have allergen issues and are concerned about specific ingredients please contact our office and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Made on Shared Equipment

We chose to add this statement to our cups based on customer feedback. With food allergies on the rise, our customers often ask whether our soy yogurts are made on shared equipment. As a small independent company, we do not own our own manufacturing facility, we use what the industry calls a "co-packer" to mix the recipe and fill the cups with WholeSoy yogurt. The co-packer that we partner with does produce both dairy and almond milk products as well as soy.

This co-packer follows very specific and rigorous industry standards regarding the manufacture of allergen ingredients. As a result, it is not required that we label our products as made on shared equipment. We made this decision to be more transparent as a company and to provide this information to our customers so they can make informed decisions about what to feed their families.

The Allergens page on our website details our manufacturing procedures and how we avoid cross-contamination. For a quick summary--the lines are completely sanitized before WholeSoy yogurts are run on a shared line and every batch is tested for allergen residue (including dairy and almond). If you have specific questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us or call us (1-877-569-6376). We're happy to help answer your questions!

Less Plastic

We've switched to a new cup supplier that uses less plastic material in each cup. Our new cups are still #5 BPA-free plastic, but you may notice the actual cups are slightly lighter in weight.

Recycling Logo

recycling-logo-5The #5 recycling logo is now bigger and clearer than ever! At one point the cups were made with a small and difficult to read #5 recycling logo that made our customers frequently ask about cup recyclability.

We hope that you are happy with the changes we have made to the cups. Our aim is to provide more information to consumers. We prioritize the quality of the relationships we have with our customers, our employees, and our partners and vendors. Customer feedback and suggestions are very important to us and directly resulted in some of the changes you will see on the new cups. Your support and ideas have helped frame the company we are today and wish to be in the future. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we're doing!
