Ted is the proud founder and CEO of WholeSoy & Co. While working as a professor of Asian philosophy, Ted met the authors of the Book of Tofu. From them, he learned traditional Chinese and Japanese methods of converting soybeans into dairy-like products. This meeting changed the course of Ted's life. What started as a hobby for Ted quickly turned into a passion. Leaving his academic life behind, Ted began his thirty-year mission to make the best tasting soyfoods on the planet.
His first commercial venture, opened in 1980, was a small tofu plant in Uppsala, Sweden. After word of his success with soyfoods spread, he was asked to join a research team charged with developing a high tech plant for processing soybase. In addition to the processing facility, the group came up with recipes for soymilk, soy yogurt, soy vanilla sauce and soy ice cream. In 1994, Ted and his family moved back to the United States from Sweden and he started WholeSoy in 1999.
Ted can best be described as a visionary—his mind is always in "creative mode" and his enthusiasm for his work is contagious. Ted lives his "non-work" life just as passionately. When not at the office he can be found on the golf course, sailing the San Francisco Bay or wine-tasting in the Sonoma Valley he calls home.
