WholeSoy Soy Yogurt is making its way to the West Coast, followed by the East Coast

on Wednesday, 12 March 2014. Posted in Announcements

WE'RE SOY EXCITED! Start making space in your fridge for WholeSoy!

Our very first orders of WholeSoy Soy Yogurt cups, now made in our own dairy-free facility, just shipped out to distributors and the trucks have started to make their way to stores across the country (and Canada)!!! Since we ship from Northern California, the West Coast will naturally start to see shelves stocked first in the coming week with the rest of the country to follow in the next week or two.

Thank you all again for standing by us throughout this longer than expected journey to building our own dairy-free facility!

WholeSoy wasn't available for far too long but we're delighted to announce all WholeSoy Soy Yogurt cup flavors are back using the same certifications, attributes and recipe you have come to love from us! Please note that we are making our 6oz cup sizes first with our 24oz sizes, including Unsweetened Plain, to follow soon after – we'll keep you posted on when you can expect 24oz back.

Our own California dairy-free facility is churning out soy yogurt every week to meet the high pent up demand for WholeSoy! We have made a whole lot of soy yogurt, enough to fill all the huge orders we received, but we won't be surprised if the first shipments sell out fast. Don't worry, it won't be too long before the orders, supply, and demand balance out and all will be right in the WholeSoy world once more.

This is just a friendly suggestion for that very first shipment: if you see only a few left on the shelf, perhaps leave some behind for a fellow WholeSoy friend!

We had an amazing show of support this past weekend at Natural Products Expo West from retail stores that are incredibly eager to have us back on their shelves including: Whole Foods Market, Mother's Market, Sprouts, Wegmans, New Seasons, PCC, natural food stores and co-ops throughout the country, and many more. So many stores across the country are welcoming us back with open arms – and that's a direct result of you, our wonderful customers, showing stores how much you want WholeSoy back!

We have let as many stores as possible know it's time to order WholeSoy again but it may take some stores more time to make room on their shelf for us. Note that we don't ship or sell our products directly to stores, everything goes through a distributor, so we won't exactly know when and where WholeSoy soy yogurts will first start to appear on the shelf. We're in this together so please let us know where you do find WholeSoy along the way (to help us keep our store locator updated too)!

wholesoy-facility_ted_300Over the last few months, we transformed our existing soybase facility into a complete non-dairy yogurt facility in California. Our soybase facility has been churning out the first ingredient in every cup of WholeSoy for over 10 years. Now this facility will continue to make soybase (our own thick and creamy recipe) and now soy yogurt, making the whole process more efficient overall.

The only change with WholeSoy is the location where we make our soy yogurts. The formula remains the same for every flavor of soy yogurt flavor as well as the packaging. All the same attributes and certifications apply. The soybeans we use are still certified organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, single-source, U.S. grown and from the same independent farmer that we have worked with since WholeSoy began making soy yogurt back in 1999. We're also still a proudly independently owned and operated company.

Our founder and CEO, Ted Nordquist, is on site at the yogurt facility making sure each batch is up to our high-quality standards. Ted still taste tests every batch to ensure superb flavor.

Learn more about Our Facility and FAQs about the WholeSoy's return. For more information, visit our Products and Allergens pages.

Despite the many obstacles we faced when our previous co-packer unexpectedly closed, and the unexpected bumps along the way while building our own dairy-free yogurt facility, we pushed ahead because of the incredible customer and retail support for WholeSoy.

We truly appreciate all of your continued support and encouragement throughout this incredibly difficult journey!

We never gave up on our loyal customers. Your positive encouragement and support from retailers propelled us forward to make our dream a reality. Thank you!

write-congressIf you have yet to share the following with us, please feel free to do so now, as the following information helps a whole lot. Particularly if your favorite store is on the fence about making space for WholeSoy again in the near future:

1. Where do you want to see WholeSoy yogurts carried again? Include the name of the store (city & state, if possible), please.

2. Why do you choose WholeSoy as the yogurt for you and/or your family?

Whole Foods (Wynnewood, PA) and Mom's Organic Market (Bryn Mawr, PA) are my stores of choice.

Whole Soy is one of very, very few soy yogurts that are both organic and carageenan-free. I know of only one other brand and I didn't like the taste of that one. I am most looking forward to the return of the large containers of play WholeSoy.

WholeSoy is worth the wait! I have tried several others in the meantime, none anywhere near the taste of WholeSoy, and most went in the wastebasket. I'd like to see WholeSoy back in my Hadley MA Whole Foods Market, and also in Western Mass Stop & Shops, and Big Ys. I am so looking forward to having delicious WholeSoy again!!!

So, so glad you are truly on your way! Stores I may no have mentioned before, Greenlife (owned by Whole Foods) in Asheville, NC. Also, Earthfare North and South in Asheville, NC. I am very lactose intolerant. Your yogurt is so good and the plain is higher in protein than any other soy yogurt I have found. The fact that it is organic and non-GMO is great! Thank you! I look forward to your return!

My daughter is allergic to dairy and all nuts and Whole Soy is her favorite yogurt! She's 6 years old so this delay has been a little hard for her to understand. You should of seen her face when I told her it will be in stores again soon! I told the dairy manager at Whole Foods in Annapolus, MD (her name is Kiara) today that you are coming back and to please be sure to stock again. Seems there is some misconception out there that you were gone for good but I told them it's not so! I know you are in contact with Whole Foods but If there's any way for you to mention that they make sure your yogurt is distributed to the east coast (and specifically my store! ????) that'd be awesome! Thanks!!!

      Hi Miriam,

Thank you for letting us know you would like to see WholeSoy back in Sprouts. Sprouts stores have confirmed they will bring WholeSoy back when it becomes available through their distributor. We are following up with Sprouts in Mesa so they know it is finally time to order WholeSoy from their distributor. The first shipment via the distributor that services Sprouts stores is estimated to arrive next week so it will take about another two weeks for Sprouts to be able to carry WholeSoy. Please let us know if you do not see WholeSoy carried there within the next three weeks. Thank you again!

GREAT NEWS! The Sprouts dairy manager already has my request form for Mckinney, TX. I'll let him know it's time to order!!! Also going to take a form over to the new Winco Foods to see if I can get them on board too. We are diabetic and milk intollerent so, soy base UNSWEETENED PLAIN is the only one we can use. I had plans to set up a "smoothie" station in my kitchen but was holding off until your production was up again. Happy to hear that I can move forward now with gathering all the sugar-free ingredients I can find so that we can start enjoying our smoothies again! ANY CHANCE you can make a soy cottage cheese??? We would love to add this to our diet but can't find anyone making it. Just a thought! :-)

I understand NOW Why I Love It, and am not at all allergic to it as I am with SO many other processed foods! Its because you CARE! WOW! LOVE that non-GMO beans are used! LOVE that organic sugar is used, -etc! THANK you (from the bottom of my Whole Soy Cup) for caring about what WE eat! You are SUCH winners!

This is great news! I can't wait to see if back in Mother's Market in Anaheim Hills, CA, or Sprouts in Yorba Linda, CA.

I love West Soy because it's vegan and the best vegan yogurt there is!

Now some unsolicited advice, I know you are busy with the relaunch, but if at some point you are thinking about a new product, is there any change of producing a vegan Greek-style yogurt? I think this would sell well and as far as I now there is not one made from soy available (And not all of us buy into the soy is bad controversy!)

I live in Tucson Arizona and for a long time loved getting the large size Whole Soy unsweetened yogurt from Whole Foods. I need sugar-free and other soy yogurts don't make the grade for me. Other natural food stores that I shop at are Sprouts, Food Conspiracy Co-Op, and Aqua Vita. It would be great to have the unsweetened yogurt distributed at these local outlets. You produce a special product!

Also bought one lime and had it right away. Thank you. Being vegan your yogurt is the best I have found. The greek style almond was no real substitute.

We've waited patiently for the return, checking every week or so. OK - this no doubt sounds ridiculous, as I am neither Catholic nor particularly religious, but I actually decided to give up checking the Whole Soy website for LENT!! And then - a MIRACLE! I went to my local health foods store, (MOMs, in northern VA and Maryland), and found several varieties sitting on the shelf waiting for me! As I type I am eating a cherry yogurt for lunch and it is delicious. THANK YOU!!

I was "soy" excited myself when I went to my local HEB in Austin, Texas and halfheartedly checked - as I have been for the past year - the yogurt shelves. Lo and behold, my precious Whole Soy & Co was back on the shelves! The inferior Silk yogurt was pushed out of the way back into its dark corner, and I found my old favourites of Key Lime, Cherry, and Lemon FULLY STOCKED. Oh my gosh. Oh happy day! I loaded up on about a dozen, but left plenty more for my fellow soygurt eating shoppers to enjoy. I'll be chopping up an apple I have sitting around and using the cherry soy yogurt with some Udi's granola to make a delicious parfait shortly. I can't wait! :D

Wahoo! I went to my regular store to buy my 2nd choice yogurt today and I almost flipped. WholeSoy was on the shelf. I selected a strawberry and to my surprise the lid was opened and I got yogurt all over me. The clerk was apologizing and I just laughed and said no worries. I love this yogurt! I prefer eating it as to taking a bath in it, but who knows, maybe it is good for a skin cream too! Anyway, glad you are back. Can't wait for more flavors to appear!

Reading everyone's comments, it is clear that the Plain Unsweetened in the large tub is your most popular flavor. The fruit ones don't work in savoy dishes. If I want fruit in my yogurt, I'll add fruit to the nice tart kind. Silk makes flavors, too, but nobody besides Wholesoy made unsweetened. Please bring it back ASAP!

I'm so glad that the wait is over. I switched from being vegetarian to being vegan right at the time your yogurt disappeared from the shelves. I've been waiting for you to come back since then even though I hadn't even tried your yogurt yet. I tried every other non dairy yogurt I could find and hated them all. Now that I've finally tasted Whole Soy, I know what everyone was talking about. I absolutely love it. I can finally eat yogurt again. Thank you.

      Hi Kiri,

The following Whole Foods Markets in San Francisco have started carrying WholeSoy again: Haight, Ocean, Noe Valley, SoMa, Castro, Franklin, and Potrero Hill. More WholeSoy is already on its way to stores throughout the country. But due to the high demand and recent reintroduction of WholeSoy to the market, we always recommend you contact your local store first to confirm WholeSoy is in stock that day before making a special trip.

      Thank you!

So glad to see Whole Soy back on the shelf here in eastern Massachusetts. So far, there are the 6-ounce containers.

These are fine, but we mostly use the plain and add fresh fruit, or use it in cooking, for smoothies, etc., so the real happiness will kick in when the larger-size containers arrive.

We'd be happy to see at least a full quart (i think the previous, largest size was 24 ounce), or even something larger. I see that Nancy's provides dairy yogurt in a tub that looks close to half a gallon for something like $8.00. A large container of plain soy would be most welcome!

Speaking of Nancy's, we've been making do with either their products or Stoneyfield Farms' mixed with Soy Delicious' coconut; a passable, but not terrific, alternative. I'm sure the folks at Nancy's are all fine and good people, but their soy product has an odd, beany aspect to the flavor that makes it less than ideal. On the plus side, they're one of the few manufacturers that still provide an actual lid for the container, so the empties are useful to have around.

Anyway, congrats to y'all at Whole Soy for having weathered the journey!

I went to breakfast at Whole Foods yesterday and the breakfast bar didn't look very interesting so I walked by the yogurt section instead of walking out. And to my surprise, there it was -- my favorite YOGURT was on the shelf! I was so elated that I finally had something good to eat that I grabbed three cups as if there would be no more. I can't wait for the 24 oz Vanilla size to hit the store. This is ranks very high as one of my greatest pleasures.
